A MUDmeet was held on Saturday, 27 June 1998 in Edinburgh, Scotland. We met at 2 o'clock in Deacon Brodie's Tavern on the Royal Mile, just a little down from the castle. It wasn't long before favourite stories were being told. Were the mortals keeping their ears pricked ready to eavesdrop the wizzes discussing some of The Land's mysteries? Richard brought along MUD2 presents for everyone, in the shape of stickers, maps and most interesting of all, exclusive MUD2 mouse mats! Florence dished out souvenirs in a Lucky Dip, giving everyone a momento of their visit to Scotland's capital city. A big thank you to Richard and Flo. Unfortunately, Richard and Lestat had to leave later in the afternoon, but Hawumph and Zedd had arrived in the mean time. Ready for some scran we squeezed into Mamma's, a restaurant who served us "Traditional American" pizza, before popping next door to the aptly named Beehive Inn. It was getting late by the time we left the Beehive, but Fodrules, Florence, Grumpy, Rainbow, Tabitha and Tobias headed back to Deacon Brodie's to sample some more of the local ales and try their hands at a devilishly demanding MUD2 Pub Quiz (devised by Admiral Bombow especially for the meet). Mostly thanks to Grumpy's imaginative scoring system, Hawumph claimed the top prize, rumoured to be 25,000 points! Starfire the celestial witch arrived the next morning. As she was weary from her transatlantic flight, we travelled out to her hotel to meet her and her husband. Even though she assured us she had flown atop her broomstick all the way from Texas she had managed to find the space to bring wonderful presents for everyone! Many MUD2 players travelled from far a field to make the meet a success, so a big thank you to you all! The whispers are that the next meet might well be in Dublin...
